With over 3000 members, the WRAC Association reflects the diversity and breadth of experience of women who have served their country in the British Army. From short stints to full service careers, Private to Major General, we are women with common bonds amidst different experiences. As an Association we find ourselves uniquely placed to both celebrate and support, and ensure that the female veteran voice is heard at the highest levels of society.

Service life often creates unbreakable bonds of sisterhood. The opportunity to come together, recall comradeship and share our lives since leaving the Army allows our women to remain connected to this significant part of who they are.

There are also women whose time in the Army has not had a positive impact. Having to leave their careers because of pregnancy or sexuality, negative experiences whilst serving or struggling to retrain when they left, or facing difficulties adjusting to civilian life which can impact the rest of their lives. We are committed to supporting women, through our Benevolent Fund, our membership benefits, and by advising statutory bodies to ensure effective, joined-up provisions for women now and in years to come.

As an active member of the Cobseo Female Veterans Cluster Group we are working to promote the interests of women who served. Through the Office for Veteran Affairs and Parliamentary Defence Sub-Committee, through NHS Improvement and the MoD’s Veteran’s Strategy, through working with strategic partners including Combat Stress and Associations of women who have served in the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, we will champion the achievements, sacrifices and needs of veteran women, and ensure that we are seen, heard, supported and celebrated.
